Family tradition as the foundation and legacy of Rubikon Shipping Company
The roots of Rubikon’s comes from the family tradition of the Pražić family, which has been inextricably linked to shipping and life on the Danube for almost a century. Generations of the Pražić family have built their experience through navigation and engineering on Danube cargo ships, creating a legacy that over time has become the foundation of today's Rubikon.
A special place in the creation of Rubikon belongs to Marko's mother, Svetlana Pražić, who spent a large part of her career in "Jugoslovensko rečno brodarstvo", the largest river shipping company in the former Yugoslavia, working on technical maintenance and operational supervision of inland navigation vessels. With her experience, support and understanding of the shipping business, she represented one of the key pillars in the creation and development of Rubikon from the very beginning.
Rubikon - a name that defines success in river tanker shipping
Rubikon Shipping Company d.o.o. Belgrade was founded on September 19, 2007 by Marko Prazic who is the founder and today’s Chairman of the Rubikon Group.
Our story has begun by acquisition of the first inland tank vessel „Rubikon 81400“. Despite this lady is not in operation today, it is preserved as a legacy reminder on our roots and foundation.
Starting as a small inland navigation oil carrier, we have grown from year to year and by 2016 we have become the leading company for transport of the liquid cargo by inland waterways, with focus on EU Rhine-Danube Corridor. Today, Rubikon Shipping Company d.o.o. is owning and operating the biggest Danube single-company fleet.
We are staying committed to the inland navigation operations as our historical business pillar and source of Company’s financial and business stability around which we are developing additional services such as shipyards and trading.
Expanding the business portfolio
To enable improved OPEX management RSC has become the owner of the shipyard „Begej“ back in 2017, while to catch the growing opportunities on the side of the newbuilds market, we become the owner of the shipyard „Perlez“. Thewe two shipyards become the main assets of the company Begej Shipyards Group (BSG)
By today BSG become one of the most important shipyard operator in the Republic of Serbia. BSG shipyards have a portfolio of over 340 newly built ships of various types of inland navigation vessels including, dry cargo vessels, chemical tankers, tug-boats, push boats, special vessels and cruise ships. Since 2021 we have built more than 30 new hulls for our clients from Western Europe.
Entering into the most important shipping industry
In 2024, RSC decided to diversify its business operation by entrance at maritime industry sector, one of the most important industries for the global economy.
During the time Rubikon has become the owner of three sea-going intermediate chemical tankers, with the defined business goal to develop by 2030 new, efficient and environmentally friendly fleet of 5 intermediate tankers operating in North Europe and Wester Mediterranean markets.
Developing Company as a vertically integrated logistic operator and energy platform
In 2025, Rubikon acquired a modern inland oil terminal located in Ploiești, Romania. Strategically located near major refineries in Ploiesti and the Bucharest airport corridor, this acquisition strengthens RSC’s logistics capabilities in Central and Eastern Europe and supports its long-term growth in energy infrastructure.
This aquisition enabled us to transorming the Company from the sole transport company to a vertically integrated logistic operator and energy platform.
More than success - a blueprint for creation of the market leadership position
From a small family company with one tanker, Rubicon has grown over the years into an international group active in the fields of river and maritime transport, energy, shipbuilding and logistics infrastructure. Today, the Rubikon Group operates through several companies across Europe, with a focus on the transportation of petroleum products and chemicals and the development of energy infrastructure.
